Numeracy

The school implements the Numeracy Strategy. Pupils are involved in daily, hourly Numeracy lessons.

The start of each lesson begins with a 10-15 mental activity session. Following this the main focus of the lesson is introduced and this involves whole class teaching.

Children follow a range of topics as per the new Framework. This takes into account the suggested time criteria for :-

• Number;

• Shape;

• Measures;

• Data Handling;

• Problem Solving

For the third part of the lesson, approximately 20-25 minutes, pupils work individually or in their differentiated groups on follow up activities. The lesson is concluded as a plenary/review of the day’s lesson, where concepts are consolidated and homework is discussed.
