Physical Education

Through Physical Education children learn to develop physical competence and confidence be creative develop positive attitudes towards active and healthy lifestyles plan, perform and evaluate actions, ideas and performances to improve their quality and effectiveness.


Children enjoy being active and using their creativity and imagination in Physical Activity. They learn new skills, find out how to use them in different ways and link them to make actions phrases and sequences of movement. They enjoy communicating, collaborating and competing with each other. They develop an understanding of how to succeed in different activities and learn how to evaluate and recognize their own success


We have strong links with local Secondary Schools and Sports clubs which enable us to provide additional activities for the children at our After School Clubs. The children enjoy regular Wake and Sake fitness sessions with the year six children often taken a leading role in delivering the session.


Time allocation

Children are provided with at least two hours of physical education each week – games, dance and gymnastics are all covered throughout the Key Stages, with the Key


Stage 2 games programme delivered by specialist sports company.


Athletics programme delivered in Key Stage 2 the Summer Term.


Swimming programme delivered in lower Key Stage 2.
